Those of us in the natural health industry know how toxic Glyphosphate is to the human body – and any of you that have listened to episode 014 of the Revive Yourself podcast with Dr Stephanie Seneff will also know the extent of damage it can do.

Unfortunately, Glyphosphate is no longer just being found on the plants and crops that conventional farmers are spraying but instead in an ever-growing number of foods consumed daily by people leading to an increased exposure to this severely harmful weed killer.

Coming up is a post from my friends at Red23 explaining the route of the problem and what needs to be done when the found out Round-Up was now being found in Ben & Jerry’s ice cream…

“You can’t beat a nice dose of weedkiller in your ice cream!

Since 1974, enough of the enzyme-blocking herbicide Glyphosphate (Round-Up) has been sprayed to cover every cultivable acre of the planet!

Its residues are found in biscuits, crackers, crisps, cereals and in 60% of UK Bread. The World Health Organisation’s cancer agency found it to be a probable carcinogenic to humans. A pivotal vote this week could revoke the license of the toxic weedkiller, with France, Spain and Germany in favour.

Eat Organic food, don’t use Round-Up in your garden and support the ban on GM food.

Round-Up Weedkiller makes up a quarter of global herbicide sales. Used on maize, cotton, soya bean and sugar beet crops genetically engineered to resist it.”

Shocking right?

If you don’t know about just how toxic Glyphosate is then I will tell you.

Here are a number of devastating biological effects that Glyphosate has beyond being a probable carcinogen, including the following:

✓ Nutritional deficiencies, as glyphosate immobilises certain nutrients and alters the nutritional composition of the treated crop

✓ Disruption of the biosynthesis of aromatic amino acids (these are essential amino acids not produced in your body that must be supplied via your diet)

✓ Increased toxin exposure (this includes high levels of glyphosate and formaldehyde in the food itself)

✓ Impairment of sulphate transport and sulphur metabolism; sulphate deficiency

✓ Systemic toxicity — a side effect of extreme disruption of microbial function throughout your body; beneficial microbes, in particular, allowing for overgrowth of pathogens

✓ Gut dysbiosis (imbalances in gut bacteria, inflammation, leaky gut, and food allergies such as gluten intolerance)

✓ Enhancement of damaging effects of other food-borne chemical residues and environmental toxins as a result of glyphosate shutting down the function of detoxifying enzymes

✓ Creation of ammonia (a byproduct created when certain microbes break down glyphosate), which can lead to brain inflammation associated with autism and Alzheimer’s disease

So what can you do to avoid this health destroying weed killer?

Your best bet for minimising health risks from pesticide exposure is to avoid them in the first place by eating organic as much as you can and investing in a good water filtration system for your home.

If you know you have been exposed to pesticides, the lactic acid bacteria formed during the fermentation of kimchi may also help your body break down pesticides so including fermented foods such as kimchi in your diet may also be a wise strategy to help detox the pesticides that do enter your body.

One of the benefits of eating organic is that the foods will be free of Genetically Engineered ingredients — and this is key to avoiding exposure to toxic glyphosate.

Eating locally-produced organic food will not only support your family’s health, it will also protect the environment from harmful chemical pollutants and the inadvertent spread of genetically engineered seeds and chemical-resistant weeds and pests.

So it’s now up to us guys and girls to vote with our pound coins.

The more organic produce we buy the less conventional foods laden with chemicals they will deliver.
