When you’re on a journey where you are consistently challenging the status quo, as well as the “progressive” opinion, you are always going to ruffle some feathers.

It’s a fact I’ve been used to for a long while, but it wasn’t until very recently this was true for me with everyone in my life.

However, when you finally realise you’re flogging a dead horse and you make peace with the fact that certain people will be in your life, and certain people won’t, no matter how close you once were to them, it’s a truly liberating feeling.

It’s like that last weight has been lifted from your shoulders.

Being true yourself and showing up to the world as the person you truly are is something that will feed your soul on a deeper level than trying to fit in ever will.

This notion is fantastically summed by in the poem ‘Our Deepest Fear’
By Marianne Williamson, which states…

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, not our darkness
That most frightens us.

We ask ourselves
Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?
Actually, who are you not to be?
You are a child of God.

Your playing small
Does not serve the world.
There’s nothing enlightened about shrinking
So that other people won’t feel insecure around you.

We are all meant to shine,
As children do.
We were born to make manifest
The glory of God that is within us.

It’s not just in some of us;
It’s in everyone.

And as we let our own light shine,
We unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.
As we’re liberated from our own fear,
Our presence automatically liberates others.”

So, be 100% yourself, 100% of the time.

If people fall out of your life because of this, they obviously weren’t meant to be there.

But, by being yourself, and not shrinking, you’ll be able to look yourself in the mirror each day, and be happy with the person looking back at you.
