Good People Disobey Bad Laws

Just because something is passed as law, it doesn’t mean it’s morally just.

In fact, through out history there have been countless examples where governments have put in place laws and ethics that have led to the death and enslavement of millions of people.

Three clear examples of this are Soviet Russia, Communist China, and Nazi Germany.

The laws and ethics these three governments had in place, although seen correct in the eyes of the law, were as far from moral as you can get, and led to the deaths of tens of millions of people.

I fully believe we should all keep the images of what the laws of these three governments led to fresh in our memory, so we don’t fall into the same trap again.

I bring this point to your attention today because it’s seems many people in society have started to confuse what is ethically right, and what is morally right.

On the surface ethics and morals can seem similar.

For example, ethics and morals relate to “right” and “wrong” conduct.

However, while they are sometimes used interchangeably, they are very different …

Ethics refer to rules provided by an external source, e.g., codes of conduct in workplaces, principles in religions, or laws set by governments.

Morals refer to an individual’s own principles regarding right and wrong. Therefore a moral precept is an idea or opinion that’s driven by a desire to be good.

That desire to be a good person, and to help your fellow man comes from a place deep in your heart.

It doesn’t come from a law book or the government.

And, as we are all aware, many laws passed by governments that sit neatly in law books, are highly immoral.

This couldn’t be more evident than with the situation we find ourselves in today, with laws that have been – or are trying to be passed – around Covid19, relating to …

– wearing masks on public transport
– not being able to have sex with someone outside your household
– mandatory vaccines
– travel restrictions
– social distancing etc

All of which, when you look at the stats and studies, are completely pointless laws, (which will not stop the spread of any bacteria or virus,) all for a virus that is less deadly than the flu.

So, next time you go to follow a law that doesn’t sit right to you, ask yourself what the morally right action would be.

If we all do that, then these laws (acts) that the government are passing, won’t last long.

Together, we have more power then the government, and this why they continually try to divide us.

When we all start to remember this, and all pull in the same direction, there will be no immoral law they can pass.
