Along way to go I know, but, we are making progress, and that’s all I can ask for at this stage.

One of the reasons I hired a coach and I am working on my movement patterns, is because although I have always played sport and been active, my flexibility has always been average at best.

And after many injuries, my range of motion in certain areas has got a lot worse.

It’s something I need to work on for my long term health.

I’ve had enough of being tight and restricted in certain patterns, and so I decided this was my goal moving forward.

You see looking a certain way is great …

… you’ve probably seen lots of trainers and coaches who are very lean and ripped…

But when they are asked to run, jump, or play a sport they can’t. Or they only last a few minutes.

This shows poor all round health, because if your body is, ‘all show and no go’, then all you are portraying is the illusion of health, which is very prevalent in today’s society.

Remember, movement and flexibility are extremely important to your health and vitality.

It’s not just diet that plays a role in whether you are healthy or not.

There are actually 6 key principles to health, and movement, which includes having a flexible body and a healthy spine, is 1 of them.

It’s extremely important to note, that if you don’t want to be one of those people walking down the street bent over at a 90-degree angle in future years or someone who can’t bend over to pick up their kids..

…then you should start working on your movement patterns, posture and mobility.

As the saying goes, “use it or lose it”.

And, before you mention your age, I’m not taking that as an excuse, because …

…it’s not your age, or getting older that’s stops us from being able to move in a certain way, or perform certain exercises, it’s our overly sedentary lifestyles.

Most people just don’t move that much anymore.

People go from bed to breakfast table, breakfast table to the car, car to an office chair, office chair back to the car, car to dinner table, dinner table to the couch.

It’s this pattern that leaves us stiff, inflexible, and a lot of the time, overweight.

So, no matter where you are on your health journey, try to add in a little movement and play every day.

To start it might just be taking the stairs at the underground instead of the escalators. Or do something you enjoy.

It doesn’t matter how small you start, just start. Every little helps. And you can increase your activity as you improve.

And, if you’re already moving a lot, that’s great!

My challenge to you is … try to take up a hobby or skill you’ve always wanted to try but have never gotten round to.

Not only will this give you new movement patterns to master physically, but it will keep your brain sharp mentally by building new neural pathways.

Plus, it’ll be fun.

Have a great day, people!

Onwards & Upwards
