A report written by the University of Bradford’s Dr Duncan Petty has revealed that almost half of the U.K. population (43 per cent) are reliant on repeat prescriptions, costing the NHS almost £8 billion a year.
That figure would be zero if we taught people about diet & lifestyle. Its the biggest cost after staff, and almost half its total spend on medicine.
It predicts that there will be 231 million more repeat prescriptions dispensed each year by 2039 and calls for patients to register for online medicine management to help ease the strain on the NHS.
What would really ease the strain on the NHS would be teaching people how to live a healthy life.
However, that would mean Big Pharma’s drug sales would go down, and they wouldn’t want that would they. Keeping everyone sick is big business and big profit for them.
