Today we have the world full of people who are extremely inflamed on both the inside and outside of their body from
stress, poor diet choices, a lack of sleep, chemical skin care, poor air and water quality and a chronic lack of exercise.

This inflammation can be excruciatingly painful and can seriously affect their quality of life.

Generally for a person with inflammation this bad their first port of call will be to a doctor or therapist who will prescribe medication or anti-inflammatory drugs (both of which will only provide short term relief and in the long term further toxify the system and make things worse).

In reality, all they have to do is change their diet, increase their water intake and jump in a cold shower.

People tend to think that cold showers and plunges are just for athletes who want to enhance their recovery, but that assumption couldn’t be more wrong. Taking a daily cold shower is one the best things you can do for your health and below I’ve listed the reasons why.

The benefits of a cold shower/plunge:

1. It conditions your autonomic nervous system
2. It naturally exercises the adrenal glands,
3. It exercises your arterial vascular tree,
4. It aids in your ability to regulate your inner temperature relative to the environment,
5. It stimulates the immune system,
6. It pumps the lymphatic system,
7. It aids in recovery time from exercise,
8. It has anabolic effects,
9. It exercises your internal muscles
10. It improves your sex life, and,
11. It’s FREE.

And everyone loves stuff that’s free right?

However even after recommending cold showers to someone who needs them and listing the benefits the response I usually get is, “I could never do that!” As they look at me like I’m insane.

I understand that it isn’t a normal request for most people but I don’t deal with people who are looking to continue their journey living their version of normal. And as Einstein says you can’t resolve a problem with the same level of thinking that created it. Oftentimes you have to do something different to get a different result.

The mere fact that a client would probably rather get their internal organs cut out than have a cold shower tells me that their autonomic nervous system is extremely weak which is a side effect of living indoors and having temperature controlled buildings where everything is so comfortable the whole time.

Well, this is a bigger problem than they realise because if you’re weak on the inside you are asking for trouble especially from parasites who are looking to eat you up and turn your internal environment into their internal environment.

You see parasites are looking for a host they can live in comfortably and control. They are mother natures decomposers and if you give them an inch they will take a mile, and they are something most people have no clue about and don’t realise how much they are controlling their thoughts, feelings, craving and impacting their life.

If you aren’t sleeping well, eating well, drinking well, exercising correctly and you’re tired all the time living off caffeine and energy drinks then you probably have parasites (which I know you don’t want to hear).

However the good news is parasites will first give you a warning that you’re under threat of being taken over and being chronically tired is the first warning, the second warning is an illness or chronic condition, if you still don’t listen the third warning is an infection of some kind and then finally you get a disease and die.

This shows you how important your internal health is.

If you research studies of the healthiest tribes to live on earth who also lived the longest they all practiced a daily cold plunge, and this practice is still performed by many countries around the world today.

Unfortunately, nowadays we live in a world of people who are obsessed with what they see in the mirror but they don’t take any time to work on their internal health.

Even professionals I see in the fitness industry who run around looking great on the outside internally have a whole host of issues they need to resolve. (I know because I have lots of them reach out to me weekly).

People forget we have muscles around our internal organs such as the gall bladder and intestines and these need to be exercised too and cold showers or plunges are a fantastic way to do that.

Another issue is that as a society we are always on the go which leads us to live a life of yang with very little yin. This unbalanced approach leads to many health problems down the road. Another plus to cold showers and plunges are they are a yin exercise which can quickly help you regain some balance in your life as well as reset your body and regain or optimise your health.

If you don’t believe me, then give them
a try … I dare you.
