Whether you agree with CrossFit’s philosophy or not, Facebook and other social media sites banning people, opinions, and deleting groups they don’t agree with (because it goes against their political views) sets a very dangerous precedent. We’ve seen this happen with many public figures and now with a leader in the fitness industry.
Let’s be clear here…deleting people and removing different opinions is akin to burning books.
And yes, I know Facebook is a private company, but Facebook and other social media outlets such as YouTube and Twitter have monopolies on technological social interaction. They have cornered the market in a way we have never seen before. This means they should be held to different standards. Rules and regulations should be put in place to protect people’s rights to free speech.
Companies such as Facebook shouldn’t be able to de-platform somebody, or an organisation, so easily and quickly just because they don’t like their views or opinions.
There should be some sort of process that takes place before someone’s right to use Facebook etc is taken away, as this is technically what they are doing by removing someone, they are taking away their right to free speech.
…Remember free speech isn’t there to protect popular speech, it’s there to protect unpopular speech. We’ve always let the public decide what it will and will not tolerate. You soon know as a person if what your saying is or isn’t acceptable by people’s reactions to it …
However in the case of Facebook, instead of letting all opinions stand and letting the truth prevail – which truth does in every avenue, and especially in the health and fitness industry where results speak for themselves – Facebook are banning people and organisations. This obviously means that person (or organisation) then doesn’t have a platform and therefore a discussion on whatever topic is in question can no longer take place.
It seems Facebook delete groups and ban people under the banner of either political correctness…
which is best described as the elevation of moral posturing over truth…
…or for “the greater good of the people” because something is dangerous – in this case, CrossFit’s philosophy around food and diet.
The end result of banning everyone you don’t agree with is that social media becomes an echo chamber. People therefore only ever get one opinion and one side of an argument.
Facebook and other social media platforms can then brainwash people and direct them where ever they want.
For an example, in the case of health, they will quote organisations such as The World Health Organisation (WHO), National Health Service (NHS) and Centres For Disease Control And Prevention (CDC) to back there stance.
Well, anyone who knows anything about how to create and maintain real health will know these government organisations (who are backed and funded by big agriculture, big pharmaceutical and now the big wireless/telecommunications) have absolutely no interest in stopping chronic disease.
In fact, their whole business model is there to promote it.
Take big pharma, for example, they have drugs ready for you from cradle to grave. And, in 7 years of medical school, doctors have basically zero schooling on diet or lifestyle factors.
This tells you everything you need to know about how they view you and your body. You are a cash cow to them.
So although we are in the age of information, you have to be wary about what information you consume.
You have to be cautious of the news, the articles and the research papers you see, especially on social media.
If you’re reading something, dig into who produced that piece of content.
Look into what agenda they may have, and who’s funding them.
Think about what they could gain from promoting their particular stance.
For years we were told Monsanto’s Round-Up (glyphosate) was safe. Government officials and (their bought and paid for) scientist said that people against the use of Round Up – those in the know who warned people how dangerous it was – were conspiracy theorist.
Well, it’s funny how those “conspiracy theorist” we’re right, and how Monsanto is now paying out millions (which will end up being billions) in lawsuits to people because Round-Up has been in unequivocally linked to causing cancer.
In truth, if you trust the government, or these big companies (which are all in bed with one another) to have your best interests at heart, then you obviously haven’t studied history.
One look at the current political spectrum and you can see their approach in plain sight.
Never has the ‘Divide and Conquer’ narrative been so obvious. Yet, people still fall for it.
The government, of course, does this for a reason. They know how much power we would have if we all stood up against them.
Together we could overturn ridiculous laws, correct false truths, end poverty and famine, and make the world a healthier, happier, cleaner place.
Obviously, this would mean the government would lose their control over us, which is their worst nightmare. So, they do all they can to keep us scared, polarised, alone, broken, and ill. This way we can be easily manipulated and manoeuvred, and they can feed us the version of events they want.
They can tell us black is white, and white is black, and the majority believe them because they think the government wouldn’t lie to us. Well, as I previously mentioned, if you think that, you need to read some history books.
Anyway, back to CrossFit.
In a statement on their website in reaction to this group being banned (and subsequently reinstated with no explanation) CrossFit wrote…
“CrossFit is a contrarian physiological and nutrition prescription for improving fitness and health. It is contrarian because prevailing views of fitness, health, and nutrition are wrong and have unleashed a tsunami of chronic disease upon our friends, family, and communities. The voluntary CrossFit community of 15,000 affiliates and millions of individual adherents stands steadfastly and often alone against an unholy alliance of academia, government, and multinational food, beverage, and pharmaceutical companies.
CrossFit, Inc. defends relentlessly the right of its affiliates, trainers, and athletes to practice CrossFit, build voluntary CrossFit associations and businesses, and speak openly and freely about the ideas and principles that animate our views of exercise, nutrition, and health. This website—and, until recently, CrossFit’s Facebook and Instagram accounts—has long catalogued CrossFit’s tireless defence of its community against overreaching governments, malicious competitors, and corrupt academic organizations…”
The article (which you can read in full over on the CrossFit website) is, in my opinion, completely correct. Yes, CrossFit speaks in strong terms and holds strong views which go against the mainstream, but those views are factual and have been proven so time and time again.
In reaction to their group being deleted without notice, CrossFit made the bold decision to remove themselves from Facebook and move solely to their website to communicate with people. Having thought about it and considered all points, in the long run, it’s probably the correct decision.
This will mean they aren’t subject to being blocked, deleted and banned without notice. They can grow their business and share their thoughts freely.
It’s something I am seriously considering myself.
And anyone else who shares unpopular truths, information that isn’t mainstream and facts that aren’t in line with the mainstream narrative should seriously consider this too.
Free speech, after all, is what the west stands for, and having it taken away because what your saying doesn’t go with a companies political opinion is sacrilege.

P.S. And for anyone who agrees with people being banned on social media for having different views or political opinions to them or god forbid for causing someone some offence in some way, remember … it could be you who’s banned next.
