Did You Know That Eating Two Slices Of Whole Wheat Bread Can Increase Blood Sugar More Than 2 Tablespoons Of Pure Sugar Cane?
I will start this article off with a few common myths.
Here you go…
Myths
- Bats are NOT blind
- Lemmings DO NOT jump off cliffs
- Bananas DO NOT grow on trees
- Scientology is NOT about science
- HUMANS DO NOT NEED TO EAT GRAINS
Since the introduction of dietary guidelines in the 1970’s calling for reduced fat intake, a strange phenomenon has occurred: We have steadily, inexorably become heavier, less healthy, and more prone to diabetes than ever before.
And to quote cardiologist MD William Davis, “It’s not fat, not sugar, and not our sedentary lifestyle that is causing our nation’s obesity epidemic – it is wheat!”
This become more evident when you realise that at present wheat is 20% of all human calories consumed. In fact this obesity epidemic we find our world in started in 1985 when most of the food produced started being wheat based.
You see, modern day wheat is not the same as that used by our ancestors in 8500 BC which was wild wheat known as Einkorn which had 14 chromosomes, but that’s for another article.
So no longer the sturdy staple our forebears ground into their daily bread, today’s wheat has been genetically altered to provide processed-food manufactures the greatest yield at the lowest cost; consequently, this once benign grain has been transformed into a nutritionally bankrupt yet ubiquitous ingredient that causes blood sugar to spike more rapidly than eating pure table sugar and has addictive properties that cause us to ride a roller coaster of hunger, overeating, and fatigue.
As well as its connection to weight gain and fat build up in all the wrong places, it has a host of adverse effects from diabetes to immunologic and neurological disorders like celiac disease, rheumatoid arthritis, and dementia.
Wheat also contains gluten. Within wheat gluten there is this protein called Gliadin. It is a fascinating protein capable of incredibly varied biologic effects in humans.
One of the effects it has on a normal functioning human is to increase appetite. This is because Gliadin is an opiate. Other effects opiates have is they will make any disorder worse.
So if you have an eating disorder it will give you a food obsession. If a child has ADHD or Autism it will make their behavioural outbursts worse and will decrease their attention span. In schizophrenics it causes severe paranoia and causes them to hear voices.
So what can we do?
In short…Eliminate Wheat from your diet!
I understand that’s radical changes can be hard but trust me you will see radical changes once you rid yourself of this unnecessary modern evil.
A wheat-free diet has been associated with significant benefits, including:
- Weights loss of 20, 30, even 50 pounds in the first few months
- Alleviation of metabolic syndrome and type 2 diabetes
- Recovery from intestinal woes, like ulcerative colitis and celiac disease
- Marked improvement in overall cholesterol and LDL counts
- Improvement in bone density and reversal of osteopenia
- The termination of skin conditions from psoriasis to oral ulcers and hair loss
- Reduction of inflammation and rheumatoid arthritis pain
- Increase energy and improved sleep
- Less acid reflux and irritable bowel syndrome
- Reduced appetite, calorie intake, food obsession
So with all those benefits, getting rid of wheat from your diet is a really a no brainer.
And you do have a brain don’t you?
So you have two choices…
1. Keep on eating wheat and live in pain with the copious side effects that choice entails
Or
2. Stop eating wheat and start the road to recovery to a healthier and a pain free life
It will be hard to start with and if your coach understands what’s going on they can support you both with intelligent nutritional strategies and psychological support.
Ultimately however it still comes down to YOU!
Onwards and Upwards
